OXON HILL High School Baseball 2014 Season: “A New Perspective”

Posted On: Saturday, March 15, 2014
By: Carlton

Once again Oxon Hill high school’s baseball program is following it’s tradition of producing both a varsity and junior varsity boys baseball team. Unlike several seasons ago, many high school teams today are not getting enough participants in the sport of baseball to carry two teams. This is concerning since our objective is to grow the sport of baseball in the PG county area, and most importantly, at the high school level. However, the number of students participating at the JV level is decreasing. This is why Oxon Hill’s baseball program considers participation at the JV level a critical component of it’s team development. Coach Sims (Varsity), and Coach Moss (JV), along with Coach Young, and Coach McBeth share equal status with regard to coaching duties and operation. “Each coach shares equal responsibility for the development of the complete baseball program. We attempt to look past titles, and get the best coaching in the specific areas where it is needed.” This simply means each coach is veiwed as a head coach in the eyes of our players. We encourage our JV players to feel their commitment and dedication to the team is just as essential to the success of our program as the Varsity players. Our coaches often rotate between the two teams to strengthen ties with players, and reinforce baseball fundamentals from different perspectives. Essentially, we are two teams in one. “One team, one ball, one fall, We fall”! Clippers on three, CLIPPERS!!!!!
